In addition to performing a PD alive check on all connected PDs, this PoE watchdog proactively resets unresponsive devices, including PoE security surveillance cameras, by turning off and then turning back on the power. The PDM capability is especially helpful in scenarios like industrial or surveillance where networks depend on connected devices for proper operation. Also, since the functional reboot frequently brings the unresponsive device back online, the PD Alive function aids in reducing needless technical support calls and expensive field excursions by field-support engineers.* Total PoE budget for this switch is 120 watts.
